We are Africa Zone VI Regional Anti-Doping Organization
Regional Anti-Doping Organizations (RADOs) are established by a group of countries to coordinate, manage and implement doping –free sport programs in a specific region. Member countries pool financial resources and expertise to implement quality anti-doping programs that comply with the World Anti-Doping Code.
The Africa Zone VI Regional Anti-Doping Organization (RADO) was established by National Olympic Committees and Government representatives from Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Kingdom of Eswatini, Zambia and Zimbabwe, with the assistance of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), on 2-3 May 2006 in Maputo, Mozambique.
The Africa Zone VI RADO is the lead agency responsible for promoting
and co-ordinating the fight against doping in sport amongst its member countries.
Fundational Pillars
In order to fulfil its mandate of implementing regional-level interventions for
clean sport, the Africa Zone VI RADO, has to focus on its foundational pillars
The Athletes are the beneficiaries and primary focus of all interventions in promoting clean sport.
The RADO Operations and Programs are designed to sustain the work of the organization through the provision of technical support, operational guidance, policy coherence and the development of a long-term succession plan.
The Member Country Representatives, National Olympic Committees (NOCs), National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) and Governments are important pillars of the work of the RADO, as they are at the forefront of the implementation of country programs
Partners
The work of the RADO is supported by strategic partners such
as WADA, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
(UNESCO), ANOCA Zone VI and AUSC Region 5, Member States and others who
provide funding and technical support.
Building
Capacity building is an important foundational pillar of the RADO. Under the auspices of the Board and RADO Office, individuals from the various countries are trained to develop the required tools so that they can provide guidance and technical support for the implementation of anti-doping programs in member countries.
